More Garden Life

This astonishing looking beetle was occupying a lot of real estate on the face of this sunflower today. I don’t know what it is, and I don’t know what it was eating. It could have been eating an unripe sunflower seed, or maybe an insect of some kind. I don’t think it was gathering nectar, though

Beetle

[Update: This is apparently a Green Fruit Beetle. It feeds on ripe or maturing soft fruit, including tomatoes. I have never seen one of these before. Apparently in the category of “maturing soft fruit”, we can also put unripe sunflower seeds. It was on one of the plants that I have designated for the use of the various bugs, so if it stays put, I’m not going to do anything to it.]
